I’m Mary Iris Gray - known to my family and friends as MIG. I’m a seasoned sewist with 16 years of professional experience in bridal, tailoring, cut & sew, production sewing, theater and opera costuming, teaching, and alterations. I’m self-taught and love a good sewing challenge.
I believe sewing is an environmentally and socially conscious act. The fashion industry uses deeply unethical labor practices and there is an overwhelming amount of textile waste in the world. Altering, reworking, and repairing our clothes is what we can all do to make a small impact while also treating ourselves with love. Your clothes shouldn’t annoy you or feel like a costume- we all deserve to have a closet filled with pieces that make you excited to get dressed!
